Information About Giresun

Giresun is a province located in the Black Sea Region of Turkiye. It is surrounded by Trabzon to the
east and Ordu to the west. With its historical richness, natural beauty, and coastline along the Black
Sea, Giresun offers a variety of experiences for students studying here, presenting a historical
atmosphere together with natural beauty.
One of the stunning places in Giresun, charming visitors with its nature, is the recently discovered
Kuzalan Waterfall. With approximately 20 meters in height and consisting of three cascades, it has
become a major sightseeing for both local and foreign tourists, as well as students visiting Giresun in
recent years. Kuzalan Waterfall Nature Park offers visitors a unique natural beauty with its expansive
plain forests, alder trees, and pine forests. The Blue Lake, located about a kilometer away from the
waterfall, is one of the must-see spots for those exploring Kuzalan Waterfall.
Giresun Castle, built on the hill dividing the city on the peninsula, commands a central position
overseeing the entire city. The Inner and outer Castle, consisting two sections, have walls that
suffered considerable damage. Dating back to the 1300s, the Castle was one of the last remaining
border fortresses of the Trabzon Byzantine Empire against the Turks. For our students who
appreciate history, the Castle is a significant sites in Giresun.
Similar to the rest of Giresun, plateau tourism holds a significant place in Giresun tourism and folk
culture. One of the most famous plateaus in Giresun, Kümbet Plateau, is located 52 kilometers away
from the city center. Situated at an elevation of 1640 meters, the plateau boasts numerous facilities
for tourism.
